He is one of Aruba’s most important interpreters of surrealism. His artistic structuring influenced by its architectural presence and his proximity between his conceptual discourses acquires an historical value in interpretative terms.
He allows himself to be taken by his emotions and feeling, and expresses what he feels with out becoming descriptive yet sometimes romancing anecdotes in his poetic paintings.
Techniques: His early charcoal drawing uses stark contrast that seems mystical with fluid movements and contortions. Now he has done color to his works, they became brighter and more vivid. In his latest work “Kyrie-Kibrahacha” he reveals a metaphysical drama. The artist displays his pectoral imagination; in playing with reality he creates figures that pertains vivid surrealism concurrent with a skillful portraying of symbolic elements of realism.
Jani has participated in local exhibitions from 1979 at the Aruba Sheraton as well as at Insight Gallery. He has permanent works at the South End Art Gallery. As an architect he was responsible for many important projects for the island. His heterogenic life is also shown with his radio jazz program. He is a passionate for the arts.
